What is Livrux?
Livrux is a family reading tracker built around one simple idea: small pages add up to big habits. It helps children build a steady reading routine by making their progress visible, motivating, and fun for the whole family.
Reading is the goal. XP, streaks, badges, and Livrux coins are there to support that habit — friendly encouragement, not the reason to read.
Getting started
- Confirm your date of birth.Livrux is a tool for parents and guardians, so creating an account requires you to be 16 or older.
- Create a free account with your email or with Google Sign-In.
- Create your own family, or accept an invitation if someone already invited you.Every Livrux account belongs to a family — see Families & guardians below for how invitations work.
- Add a reader profile for each child.A name and an avatar are all it takes. The first time you do this, you'll also be asked to set your guardian PIN — it protects your family's settings from then on.
- Optional: set up a reward formula in Settings → Livrux formula if you'd like finished books to earn Livrux coins.You can always change it later — it only affects books completed afterwards.
- Start adding books and let the reading begin!
Families & guardians
Every Livrux account belongs to one or more families. Whoever creates a family is its owner; other adults — a partner, grandparent, or co-parent — can join as co-guardians and get the same day-to-day access to the family's readers, without sharing a login.
- Go to Settings → Co-guardians.
- Tap Invite and enter the other person's email address.
- They receive an invitation by email. If they're signed in with that same address, it appears automatically for them to accept; otherwise they can enter the invitation code by hand.
- Once accepted, they can see and manage the same reader profiles as you.
Only the family owner can invite or remove co-guardians, or delete the family. Any co-guardian can leave a family at any time.
Belong to more than one family? You can switch which one you're viewing at any time from Settings → Manage families — the choice is per device, so switching on your phone won't change what a co-guardian sees on theirs.
Reader profiles
One Livrux account can hold as many reader profiles as you need — one per child (or even one for yourself).
- The home screen shows all your readers as a grid of avatars; tap one to enter their space.
- Each reader has their own books, coins, streaks, and badges.
- Each reader can choose a personal colour theme (Classic, Night, Indigo, or Ruby) and, optionally, a PIN to open their space — both are set from their profile, which you can edit any time from the home screen.
- You can note an age range on a reader's profile for your own reference. It doesn't currently filter books, change recommendations, or restrict anything in the app.
Parental PIN & security
Your guardian PIN protects your family's settings — the reward formula, co-guardians, reminders, and more — from being changed without you. Set or change it any time in Settings → Parental controls.
Each reader can also have their own, separate PIN to protect their own space from curious little fingers — also set from Parental controls. Opening Settings itself always asks for your guardian PIN first.
💡 Forgot your PIN? Tap the lock icon on the Home screen and choose "Forgot your PIN?". Livrux sends a one-time code to your account email to confirm it's really you, then lets you set a new PIN — you'll enter it once more to unlock Settings.
Adding books
There are three ways to add a book to a reader's library:
- Search — type the title or author and pick from Google Books results.
- Scan — use the camera to scan the ISBN barcode on the back cover.
- Manual entry — type the details yourself if the book isn't found.
When adding a book you choose its status:
- Currently reading — the book appears in progress; no coins yet.
- Completed — coins are awarded immediately based on the page count and your formula.
💡 You'll see a live coin preview as you enter the page count — so you know exactly what the reward will be before saving.
After completing a book, the child can give it a rating ( 😕 disliked · 😊 liked · 😍 loved) and write a short review.
If a completed book is deleted later, the coins and XP it earned are removed again, and any badge the reader no longer qualifies for without it is removed too.
Reading sessions
Not every reading moment ends in a finished book — and that's perfectly fine. While a book is marked "Currently reading", you can log a reading session any time to record how far the reader got.
- Open the book (or tap the "Continue reading" card on the reader's home screen) and log the page they stopped at.
- Livrux remembers the last page you logged, so you only need to enter today's progress.
- Logging a session counts toward the reader's daily streak — finishing a book isn't required to keep it alive.
Coins & rewards
Livrux coins are a fun way to celebrate finished books — not the point of reading itself. You set the formula in Settings → Livrux formula, and decide as a family whether and how coins turn into real-life rewards.
- Base reward — a fixed amount for every completed book.
- Per-page rate — extra coins for each page read.
- Minimum pages bonus — an extra bonus if the book is at least N pages long.
- Foreign language bonus — extra coins when the book is read in a language other than the reader's usual one.
The Wallet tab shows the full transaction history — every book completed and every reward spent.
When it's time to redeem coins, you record the spend yourself in the Wallet — Livrux doesn't set prices for you. Coins only exist inside the app and carry no real-world monetary value.
XP, Streaks & Embers
XP (experience points) are earned for finishing books, logging reading sessions, completing the Week's Mission, and unlocking badges. XP can't be spent — it's simply a measure of how much a reader has been reading, and it's what the Rankings are based on.
Reading streaks count how many days in a row a reader has read — whether that's finishing a book or just logging a session on one still in progress. The current streak and personal best are shown on the reader's profile.
Embers protect a streak when a day is missed. A reader earns their first Ember after 3 days in a row, and another roughly every 7 days after that (also for finishing first in a weekly or monthly ranking). If a day is missed and an Ember is available, it's used automatically to keep the streak alive.
Badges & Flame Titles
Badges are achievements unlocked automatically as a reader hits milestones — finishing their first book, reaching a number of books or pages, keeping a long streak, reading in a foreign language, or reading the same book as a friend:
💡 Badges are permanent — once earned, they don't disappear just because a streak breaks or reading slows down. The one exception: deleting the completed book that earned a badge can remove it too (see Adding books).
Flame Titles sit on top of a reader's current streak — from "Lighting the Flame" at the very start, up through Kindled Flame (7 days), Flame Guardian (30 days), Flame Master (60 days), Flame Legend (100 days), and Eternal Flame (365 days). Unlike badges, a Flame Title can go up or down — it always reflects the streak right now.
Week's Mission: reading every single day of the week completes the mission and earns a bonus of XP. It's shown as "Today's Mission" on the reader's home screen.
Friends & Rankings
Readers can connect with friends to share progress and enjoy some friendly competition.
- Each reader has a unique 6-character friend code — share it with friends.
- Enter a friend's code in the Friends tab to send a request.
- The other reader accepts (or rejects) the request.
- Once connected, you can see each other's books, badges, streaks, and XP.
A friend can be removed at any time from the Friends tab. There's no messaging or chat between readers — only shared reading activity.
Parents can let a reader accept requests and manage friends on their own, or require parental approval each time — configurable per reader in Settings → Parental controls.
Rankings
Readers only ever compete against their own friends — never against the whole Livrux community. There are three views: Weekly and Monthly rankings (based on days read and XP earned in that period), and the Hall of Fame, an all-time ranking by total XP.
Livrux Insights
Insights is where you can see how a reader's habit is developing over time. Open the Insights tab and choose a reader to see their summary.
You'll see a friendly overview of how their reading pace is trending (picking up, steady, or slowing down, for example), plus a snapshot of the last week — pages read, days active, XP and coins earned, and any books finished or badges unlocked.
Below that, a short multi-week view shows the reading pace over the last few weeks, along with a reading profile: favourite author, best week, and longest streak.
💡 You can opt in to a weekly reading summary by email, per reader, from Settings → Livrux Insights by email. It's a short recap sent about once a week — off by default until you turn it on.
Settings & privacy
- Language — English, Portuguese, and German; switchable at any time.
- Livrux formula — decide how completed books turn into Livrux coins.
- Parental controls — set your guardian PIN, add per-reader PINs, and control what readers can do on their own, such as managing friends.
- Co-guardians & families — invite co-guardians, or switch which family you're viewing.
- Reading reminders — a gentle daily nudge if a reader hasn't opened a book yet, set per reader, with an option to choose which reminders arrive on this device.
- Livrux Insights by email — opt in to a weekly reading summary per reader.
- Data & privacy — Livrux is built around GDPR / LGPD principles. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time via Settings → Delete account.

Deleting your account
You can delete your Livrux account and all associated data at any time, directly from the app — no need to contact support.
- Open the Livrux app.
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Confirm twice when prompted.
What gets deleted immediately: your account, all reader profiles, books, reading sessions, Livrux coins, transactions, badges, XP, and friend connections.
What is retained: a minimal consent record (your email, the dates you accepted the terms and verified your age, and the deletion date) is kept for 3 years as required by GDPR / LGPD. No personal reading data is included in this record.
If you have trouble deleting your account, contact us at livrux@livrux.com and we will process the deletion within 30 days.
